A Unique Organic Cocktail
Going green isn’t just happening on the east coast! San Francisco is also keeping the green dream alive by supporting green restaurants. Globe Restaurant, located at 620 Pacific Ave in the heart of San Fran, opened in 1997. Owner, Joseph Manzare, has always supported organic locally farmed produce, natural free range meats, and wild and sustainable fishing practices. Manzare has often partnered with local farms to produce Farm Dinner events often held at Globe.
In recent years, Executive Chef, Jason Tallent, has taken over the kitchen and produces a weekly farm dinner every Sunday night at Globe, which has since won best prix fixe menu for 2007 from San Francisco Weekly. It is a great pleasure to host their new independent traveling farmers market.
I, as the resident mixologist bartender, have had the privilege of creating special organic cocktail menus. Last July, I was blessed with elderflowers and elderberries which are rarely available fresh and organic. I made an amazing cocktail called "Moment of Clarity". Enjoy!
"Moment of Clarity"
- 2 oz Square One certified organic vodka
- 1/2 oz fresh organic prepared elderberry syrup
- 1 oz fresh organic lemon juice
- 1/4 oz organic Partida agave nectar
- One glass coating of Kubler Absinthe (in and out)
Rim martini glass with agave nectar for stick and dip in elderflowers creating flowered rim.
Shake and strain vodka, lemon, Kubler Absinthe, and agave nectar.
Float elderberry syrup down sides of glass to rest on the bottom of martini glass.
