The Breeders: Mountain Battles

The Breeders: Mountain Battles

Back in 1993, The Breeders scored a radio hit with grunge anthem, “Cannonball.” Always a side project to her original outfit, The Pixies, Kim Deals sugary vocals have served as one of the most recognizable and celebrated of the alternative rock scene.

Following the much-revered reunion with The Pixies, Deals and her twin sister, Kelley, came back with a vengeance with the release of last years Mountain Battles.

Produced by the legendary Steve Albini, Mountain Battles returns to the scrappy rock of The Breeders back catalogue, with a darker and more tortured sound. A surprising twist at every turn, the album features “German Studies,” a song sung completely in German, complete with the same driving guitars reminiscent of any of The Breeders classics from there breakthrough album, Last Splash.
