Jenny Lewis:

Acid Tongue

Former child actress (remember Nickelodeon’s Salute Your Shorts) and Rilo Kiley front woman, Jenny Lewis, strikes out on her own with Acid Tongue. A follow up to her critically acclaimed solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat, featuring The Watson Twins, Acid Tongue finds the 32-year-old Lewis at her ballady best.

Piano tinged tearjerkers like “Sing a Song for Them” showcase Lewis’s penchant for songwriting, and the countrified rocker “Carpetbaggers” features a duet with the iconic Elvis Costello.

The albums standout track, “See Fernando” is a gyrating sing-a-long where Lewis warns, “If you wanna go where they chain up the sun, See Fernando.” The slick production makes way for Lewis’s rich vocals; undoubtedly the best we’ve heard from her thus far in her career.

Next time you are in the mood for a loving, low key night, why not play some off-beat romantic tunes like these.
