Ditch Plains

Gourmet Comfort Food with a Twist!

Directly across the street from Mas, yet a world away, is Ditch Plains. Named after the famous Mon- tauk surf beach, Ditch Plains is a culinary oasis. Their fare can be categorized as surfer comfort food with a twist. From the gooey and delicious macaroni and cheese that was perfect on this cold win- try night, to the tasty fish tacos and tomato and cucumber salad that was so fresh and dressed to perfection, to the yummy pigs in a blanket, we were in heaven. The twist came from the customized mussels with fries – we chose the curry, roasted tomato & red onion sauce (that we took home with us) and the lobster roll, a Montauk favorite.

The interior of the restaurant was modern and a little dark, a sort of modern pub atmosphere. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The wine list was very well priced. They offer many half bottles and their published philosophy is “non-traditional, low mark-up”.

Ditch Plains is a great spot in the West Village for lunch, brunch, dinner or to even meet for a drink and watch a game. The price points are definitely not typical Manhattan, which was a pleasant sur- prise and added to the overall experience. We would definitely recommend Ditch Plains to anyone that wants a more laid-back, casual atmosphere that’s not too crowded and not too expensive. Perfect for that dinner and a movie date. Enjoy!
