“Hey Baby” Takes on a Whole New Meaning...

Ever get approached by a guy who’s pick up line makes you want to shoot him? Well, now you can. A new video game, entitled: Hey Baby, seeks out to cash in on man bashing and I don’t like it. If that surprises you, let’s take a closer look as to what this game really promotes.

This game features a woman (we assume) walking down the street with a gun, and every time a man approaches her, whether he says something benign like, “You are so beautiful” to the downright creepy “I wanna lick you all over”, the female avatar has the opportunity to shoot and kill. In the dead man’s place is a gravestone with his last words on it.

Can you imagine if the situation was reversed and women were the ones subjected to this type of violence? Wait, there are games out there with simulated violence agains women, so we don’t even have to imagine. Those games are disgusting, vile and project nothing but hate and ignorance.

What is going on in our society right now between men and women disturbs me. We have had a breakdown in communication, a growing lack of mutual respect, and a fear of one another. Games like this only perpetuate stereotypes of both sexes and I, for one, will not be purchasing a game like this. As consumers, we do affect change in our society and sometimes, your greatest weapon is your pocketbook.
