Seal's Got a Secret...
I know what you are thinking. You are probably expecting me to have some cynical, sarcastic comments about the nature of this video. The two of them do make it easy to poke fun. There they are, the beautiful people, happily married in real life, caressing each other’s nude bodies in really good lighting. Heidi lays there, seemingly make-up free, a calm and serene look upon her face, hardly able to lift her hand because the rock on her finger is just that big. There he is, singing to her a sweet little love song (that he probably wrote for her), stroking her body with his big, strong hands. But, alas, I am in no mood to be cynical.
In fact, there is enough cynicism in our world, enough hate, enough anger. Maybe if there were more images like these on television, showing the love between two people, there would be a shift in the way we all think and react to one another. Call me a dreamer, but this video actually melted my heart a little, and the song was soft, intimate and romantic.
I read a lot of comments on different sites about this video. People, of course, relentlessly made fun of the two of them. I understand their point, and frankly, I, too, wanted to snicker at first. Maybe I’m just getting soft, or maybe I shouldn’t be allowed to watch music videos like this after I’ve watched French film and feel all squishy inside. Whatever the reason that has caused me to become so...gentle all of the sudden, I’m sure it will quickly pass and I’ll be back tomorrow to my regular self, but until then, I may just watch this video over and over with a bag of popcorn in my lap. Yes, that’s about as pathetic as it gets. No judgment, please.
