My Favorite “It Gets Better” Video So Far!

As many of you know, there have been tons of “It Gets Better” videos in support of at risk LGBT youth who may feel as though suicide is their only recourse to stop the bullying they have to endure in their daily lives.

Writer and activist, Dan Savage, posted the first video. Since then, tons of celebrities and political figures, as well as everyday people, have posted their own videos in support of standing up for those who are viewed as ‘different’.

Now, many of these videos have been inspirational, some have made me cry, and some have made me laugh. But, this one takes the cake.

Openly gay actor, George Takei, expressed his support for those who are being bullied and made to feel ashamed of who they are with this rather hilarious, rather unconventional and very moving video in response to the redneck pig, Clint McCance, who is a homophobic school board member from Arkansas.

McCance has recently been attacked for his hate-speech filled Facebook page on which  he talks openly about wanting gay people to kill themselves. I would usually go off on an angry rant about how insane McCance’s words are, how hurtful the sentiment is, and how unnecessary, but I believe Takei sums it up best. Enjoy!

I love hearing Sulu say the word, “Douchebag”!

Humor aside, George Takei is right. It’s good to see a successful gay person come out and give hope and encouragement to others of the homosexual community, as well as give straight society a better understanding of the normality of the gay community.
