Finally Elizabeth Edwards took matters into her own hands recently and kicked the once-upon-a-time democratic presidential candidate to the curb! And, I say, "What took you so long, Liz?"
Can you imagine the situation this woman has been in for the past several years? Battling terminal cancer, raising two small children, turning a blind eye to her husband's indiscretions, trying to keep up her public image to help his political career...what a whirlwind it must have been for her! And then, all the rumors! Edwards ducking into a hotel bathroom trying to escape the lights of the paparazzi as they attempt to take pictures of him leaving his mistress, rumors of him paying his mistress thousands of dollars a month to keep her mouth shut about their sordid affair, vicious fights between him and his wife, denying his own love child to save face in the public...the list goes on and on.
You can't write material this juicy! I feel so sorry for his children (all three of them, now that he has finally admitted to fathering his mistress' child.) I also give Elizabeth major props. She really took that "for better or worse" part really seriously in her marriage vows. You can't say she didn't try. We can't fault her for kicking him to the curb, either. I mean, seriously, if you were told that your hubby was a back-stabbing, lying, cheating, good for nothing scoundrel, who verbally abused you on a regular basis, disrespected your marriage vows, abandoned you emotionally, and recently there was a story out that he physically attacked her and swiped her wallet.
Um, ladies, just so we are clear, this really is when you say good-bye! There is nothing to work out at this point. People will show you exactly who they are, and he is clearly showing Elizabeth in many different ways that he is a royal douche bag, (Don't you just love that? Really creates a clear image), and doesn't deserve any love, attention, time, or forgiveness. Cut out the toxicity! She has enough on her plate. She is fighting for her life, she shouldn't have to be fighting for her marriage. Any real man would be supporting his wife at the sunset of her life, standing by her side, like he promised on their wedding day.
How cold of him, as well, to not only hurt her by cheating on her with another woman from his staff, but to have been so irresponsible as to get his lover pregnant. Now, there is a little baby involved in this scandal who did nothing to deserve this. What kind of father cheats on his wife who is stricken with cancer, and then abandons her and his children?
Usually, I feel that what a person does in his or her own personal life is their business. But, he was a fool to decide to run for presidency, in the midst of his affair. Was he that cocky and arrogant to think that the world wouldn't find out? This is America! We are obsessed with stories like these! The only one I learned to trust out of all of this would be the National Enquirer for bringing this juicy story out when no one else did. But, I guess it's fitting that the trashiest tabloid of them all exposed this real trash bag of a man.
My advice to Elizabeth? Enjoy your children, enjoy your friends, be with people who love you and who you really love. Paint, read, play with your kids in the sun. Life is finite so do what matters most. Live in peace and be happy. The rest is just a bunch of bullshit.
