Another one bites the dust...

While watching this season of American Idol, I noticed two things about Jennifer Lopez that I hadn’t noticed before.

1. Her personality really isn’t as awful as I once previously thought. She was kind to the contestants, never acting jealous or catty towards the female singers like Kara DioGuardi would, and she genuinely seemed as though she cared for all the contestants. Very maternal.
2. Her husband is a jerk. Seriously. When he came on to American Idol, he was rude to Jennifer, he made condescending remarks towards her, and he acted miffed that he wasn’t the star of the show. I was surprised that someone that projects such confidence in her professional life would put up with such a controlling, cranky man in her personal life. But, then again, that’s nothing new.

So, when I recently heard Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were calling it quits after 7 years of marriage, I thought to myself, “Good for her.”

Now, I am not implying that she doesn’t have her own faults or issues within the marriage. We all know it takes two to tango, but judging from what I saw on camera, he really did not come across as a nice guy. I couldn’t believe, actually, how he didn’t even try to censor himself for the cameras. It was though he had a really hard time even complimenting his beautiful wife.

Signs of trouble were brewing at the July 9 BAFTA gala in Los Angeles where Jennifer brought her mother to the event instead of Marc. Although the absence got tongues wagging, it wasn’t the first time he was missing from her side. The pair had not been photographed together since early June.

On June 7 at the Samsung Hope for the Children Gala in New York, the last event the couple attended together, Lopez looked glum next to her hubby. After the event, Lopez and her mother and the twins traveled to France and Spain as the singer was a part of a French reality TV show. Then, she and her mom took the twins to Disneyland on June 25, once again, without Marc.

Recently, the unhappy couple released this statement:

“We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”

And, there you have it. I guess, at least in Jen’s case, third time is not the charm.
