Finally! ‘Embarrass a Cheater’ APP Has Arrived!

(Where was this when Maria Shriver needed it?)

Want to expose a cheater? (Or at least read all the sordid details of philanderers caught with their hand in the cookie jar?) Check out Cheaterville, which ironically, launched on Valentine’s Day. Since then, the site has attracted millions of viewers who can search a database (by name and location).

Adding to the “fun”, you can upload anonymously your own sob story of who wronged you, including the “accused” full name and photo. This summer, Cheaterville launches their APP for both Android and iPhone.

How does it work, you ask? Let’s say you catch your sister’s husband kissing another woman (gasp!) at a club on the other side of town. Simply click the app to take a photo of the scandal and instantly upload the cheater’s naughty night out for all to see.

Then, to play the spy role even more, you can send an anonymous “tip” to your sister to let her know that her hubby is a two-timing dog.

Does this sound a little ethical to you? Should chief executive, James McGibney, be worried about getting sued? Nah, he isn’t concerned.

He tells Marie Claire, “We’re no different than Facebook. When a person posts there, they are liable for that post, not Facebook. About three cheaters per 100 contact us and say, ‘This part of the story isn’t true’.”

Even if the post isn’t true, McGibney won’t remove it or modify it.

“It’s not up to us to decide who’s lying.”

While this may all sound very titillating, I do question the ethics of it. Yes, your partner may be cheating, but this is what I would call, serious meddling. Should we all be so concerned what is going on in each other’s beds? At what point are  we just policing each other?

Sure, it may seem harmless enough, but being able to post things anonymously really does open the door to abusing this app just to seek revenge on someone else. If you want to be this nebby, and but your nose into someone else’s private life, you should at least be made to post your OWN name, as well.

Now who’s interested?
