Check Out Pittsburgh’s Yoga Expo This Saturday!

I am a total yoga dork as a few of you may know, so you can only imagine my excitement when my I found out that this Saturday, January 28 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. there will be an awesome YOGA EXPO at the Union Project in Highland Park.

Address: 801 N Negley Avenue
               Pittsburgh, PA 15206

(Video above is of 2011 3rd place PA competitor, Angela Del Raso, who did an absolutely beautiful job! Way to go, Angela!)

What does a yoga expo entail, you wonder? So glad you asked! Last year, several of my close friends and I participated in the PA Regional Yoga Asana Cup. My dear friend, Sam Tanur, placed second in this event and went on to compete nationally. One of my Bikram Yoga teachers, Rebecca Rankin, competed in this event a few years ago and won at the state level, the national level and placed internationally. In fact, the Squirrel Hill Bikram Yoga Studio is hosting the event this year, and Rebecca, a co-owner of this beautiful studio will be competing, along with her business partner, co-owner and Bikram Yoga instructor, Lisa Lau. It should be great fun, and I encourage anyone who has ever had an interest in yoga to come check it out!

But, there is more! Not only will there be the Regional Asana Cup to check out, but there will also be lots of different workshops and demonstrations to partake in throughout the day. Here is the list of events:

As an extra bonus, one of Bikram’s most senior teachers, Mary Jarvis, who practiced Bikram Yoga to save herself from debilitating pain and intensive back surgery following a near fatal car accident several years ago is coming to the Bikram Squirrel Hill Studio on Sunday, January 29. She will teach the 11:30 a.m. class and a following posture clinic. If you enjoy yoga or want to learn more about individual postures, I highly recommend this event. Tickets are $75.00. I attended this seminar last year and it really improved my practice, understanding and respect for the yoga.

It’s going to be a yogatastic weekend, so come join the fun!
