Bill Passed in Michigan ALLOWING Bullying That Provides “Religious or Moral Reasons”

And I ask, dear friends...WTF?!

Michigan Senate Republicans passed a bullying bill (which, by the way, had ZERO democratic support) that allows bullying, as long as there is a “religious or moral reason for their actions.”

Great. This is just wonderful. Kids all over the country are suffering from bullying, some even taking their own lives to end the daily suffering of being mentally, physically and emotionally abused, and Michigan decides to stand on the side of the attackers. Need I remind the people of this country that religion was also used as a reason to enslave African Americans in the United States, as well as serve as one of the reasons for the Holocaust.

Here is what democratic Senator, Glenn Anderson, stated about this deplorable and disgusting bill:

"To the families of the ten reported suicides that were directly linked to bullying and the countless others that have gone unreported, this bill adds insult to injury. I have been working for years to pass legislation to provide a safe school environment for all of our students. This bill goes in the exact opposite direction and in fact provides a license to bully."

Oddly enough, the bill has been titled, Matt’s Safe School Law (which makes no sense, considering Matt Epling was a teen who committed suicide due to anti-gay bullying.) His father is beyond disturbed by this bill (rightfully so) and had this to say about it:

"This is just unconscionable. This is government- sanctioned bigotry."

He is absolutely correct. The government is here to protect its citizens and their personal rights, not to impose government sanctioned violence on children that are deemed “different” by their peers. What kind of message is this sending to our youth? Religion allows us to get away with anything, apparently. What happens if something goes too far and a group of people kill  an LGBTQ youth or a teen who is seen as an outsider? Will they use religion as a means to escape prosecution?

I am really frustrated with the state of this country for a lot reasons right now, but this just sent me over the top. I can’t for the life of me understand why this bill would even be written, let alone passed. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the United States is being hijacked by domestic terrorists that come in the form of suit-wearing, “freedom-loving” Nazi-wannabes that have no desire to move this country into a better place, but yet, instead, seek to enslave us in the name of God. How dare these Senators treat children this way, how dare they use religion to condone violence. People everywhere (whether identified as religious or not) should be outraged at the fact that these monsters who claim to be servants of the people are hiding behind religion to condone and legitimize hatred.

I’m just glad as can be that I don’t (and never will) live in the state of Michigan. That’s all I have to say after reading this article.
