Some Things to Try to Beat Back those Winter Blues

Posted by Natalie on Fri, 27.01.12 at 08:24AM in Guest Bloggers Love

By: Mia Bencivenga

Every time I pick up a magazine or to an online news source, there is always some health expert who is trying to recommend to you things to do that supposedly help elevate your mood during the long winter.  The reason is obvious; in these ever gray east coast winters, one begins to feel a certain sense of lethargy and malaise.  This made me feel like providing my own set of rules to help beat back those dastardly winter blues.

If running away to somewhere warm is not an option for you, please allow me to suggest a few alternatives to try.  But because I’m realistic, and understand that people are busy/tired/unmotivated to try some of those alternatives, I have also supplied alternatives to those alternatives.  Please enjoy.

New Way to Waste Money: “Marriage Proposal Planners”

Posted by Natalie on Sun, 08.01.12 at 04:30PM in In the News Love Odd Relationships

“Will you marry me?”

It is amazing as to how those four little words can change your life. Of course you want the scenario to be perfect. Of course you want your soon-to-be betrothed to remember that moment for the rest of their lives. But part of the excitement and the anticipation comes from planning that intimate, romantic moment yourself.

So why outsource it?

Relationships: Always the Solution and NEVER the Problem?

Picture this, if you will…you’ve just divorced your wife of over six years.

And, oh the pain and the vulnerability you must be feeling! The excruciating shame that one can experience when something like a marriage fails! Especially considering it was your infidelity that may or may not have broken up the marriage... Ah, surely, these are emotions that almost any individual in this kind of a situation would feel.

Yes, the time it will take you to heal will most likely be extensive; you’ll probably need at least six months of Ben and Jerry’s good old fashion ice cream therapy to recuperate from what has proven to be an arduous, traumatizing process.

But maybe, just maybe, someday you will reemerge from all of this, stronger than ever. And perhaps, find the will to love again.

And of course, you want to be kind to your now ex-wife, whose life you shared for almost a decade, by being considerate when you do meet that special someone. Because after all, that’s just common decency…

How to Make a Great First Impression

By: Tracey Steinberg

Halloween is a great occasion for reminding us how important looks are.  Whether or not you dressed up in a costume, your appearance gave messages to the people around you. Our appearance is ALWAYS talking so it is important that you pay attention to it and make sure it gives off the messages that you want to be communicating. I strongly recommend that you always present yourself in the best way possible because you never get a second chance for a first impression and you just never know when you will meet someone great.

Marriage: A Sacred Sacrament?

Posted by Natalie on Thu, 27.10.11 at 08:28PM in Celeb relationships Guest Bloggers In the News Love

By: Mia Bencivenga

Hey you.

Yeah, I’m talking to you.

It’s you crazy lovebirds who drive me up a wall and through the ceiling.  It’s couples like you who’ve been dating for all of three weeks and think you are “so in loooooveee” because you both have “like everything in common” that make me absolutely bat shit crazy.

It’s not just because I’m “jealous” or “excruciatingly bitter” or “unpleasant” that makes me want to jump into Sarah Palin’s back yard dressed in a bear costume whenever I’m around you; it’s because when we hang out, I hear you throw around words like “marriage” and “love” as though  you are talking about the weather.

Well, let me tell you something kids, love and marriage aren’t things you should be bringing up after dating each other for a few months, let alone a few weeks.  And bringing these heavy subjects up so early in the relationship isn’t really doing you any favors, let alone actually going through with it and actually getting married!

Inexpensive Fall Date Ideas

Oh boo-hoo. Summer is a wrap and your surf lessons, barbecues, and flip flops are gone almost as quickly as they showed up. Although fall is upon us, that is no reason to throw in the towel, curl up at home in a blanket and watch your favorite reality shows. Autumn is a season to celebrate!
