Steroid Able to “Prevent” Lesbianism?

Posted by Natalie on Wed, 30.06.10 at 01:11PM in In the News Self Awareness Sexuality/Health

Well, now we’ve done it. We’ve taken nature into our own hands and have found a way to possibly ‘prevent’ lesbianism and even increase a girl’s desire to become wife, mommy, and reduce her desire for “men’s work.”  Sound like something out of a Margaret Atwood novel? I only wish it were.

...How Music Makes the Magic Happen

We all know that certain songs conjure up old memories, that hearing certain types of music can put us into different moods, but I had no idea that creating a romantic ambience through music could up the odds of a love match!

Tomorrow morning at 10:15am EST, I will be on itsyourhealthradio.org with the fabulous Lisa Davis discussing the topic of soul mates and whether or not they exist. It got me to thinking about what the concept of a “soul mate” really means and whether or not we help or hurt ourselves by framing relationships in such limited terms.

Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton (whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, Jr.) was in trouble recently for posting a photo of Miley Cyrus that showed her exiting a car, seemingly without her underwear on. Readers of his infamous blog were told not to click on the link to the photo if they were “easily offended”.

Christina Aguilera: Faux Lesbian?

Why Xtina is Sometimes Attracted to Women

Christina Aguilera has had a rough couple of months. Her album, Bionic, isn’t doing as well as expected and she recently canceled an upcoming tour to promote her album due to “scheduling conflicts”. So, when your career is heading south, it’s the best time to be controversial and keep your name in the press.

...And I Think It Gave My Computer Herpes

Aw, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Bravo has really outdone themselves, this time! I will admit it, my name is Natalie and I am a Real Housewives of (any city will do) addict. I like watching all of their petty drama unfold before me. Yes, it’s mindless entertainment, but that’s what Monday nights at 10pm are for, after all!

Is Parental Consent Necessary for a Minor to Have an Abortion?

Posted by Natalie on Wed, 09.06.10 at 10:28AM in In the News Self Awareness Sexuality/Health

I think about this question a lot, considering I have a sister who is just finishing high school. So many girls her age and younger are sexually active and often times going at it unprotected and misinformed. Even the ones that aren’t having sex are running into issues about their bodies with their parents. For example, one girl needs to get on the pill to help reduce her ovarian cysts, but her mother refuses to because she worries it will be an “excuse” for her to have sex. So, the question remains. Do your parents need to know if you want to go on birth control, use the morning after pill or have an abortion? At what point do women control their reproductive bodies? When a girl starts menstruating, does that give her the right to take control of her cycle?

Are Children of Lesbian Couples Psychologically Sound?

According to a 17 year-old study conducted at the University of California that studied families headed by lesbian parents, the answer is yes. This study showed that these children were more psychologically sound, have less behavioral issues, were less aggressive and less prone to breaking rules than children raised by heterosexual parents.

Adult Breastfeeding Establishes “Maternal Relations” in the Middle East

Sounds to Me Like Some Countries Have Mommy Issues...

As many of us know, women and men in Saudi Arabia must be careful not to mingle, as the insanely strict Islamic law bans mixing between the sexes who are not related. Recently, the Saudis have issued a fatwa that forces women who come into contact with unrelated men on a regular basis to breastfeed them so that they can be considered “relatives” and not potential lovers. The strangest part is, this isn’t the actual issue at hand. The issue is, how do the men get the milk? I know, it just gets weirder.
